Breast Thermography
DITI detects the subtle physiologic changes that accompany breast pathology (cancer, fibrocystic disease, estrogen dominance, lymph congestion, infection or a vascular disease) offering women the chance to become aware of worrisome physiological changes before there is a diagnosable cancer.
Thermography is 90% accurate and ALL women can benefit from testing. Especially for younger women (30-50) with dense breast tissue, overweight women, and women with fibrocystic breasts or breast implants. It is able to evaluate all areas of the breasts and regional lymph nodes, whereas mammography misses portions of the breast tissue. Second to skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer that women may face in their lifetime (American Cancer Society) and approximately 1/3 of all breast cancers occur in women under 45, where mammography is not recommended.
Thermography allows women to be proactive about their breast health years before they are at the recommended age for mammography. Thermography is not a replacement for mammography but is considered an adjunct or complementary procedure. A multimodal approach including mammography, thermography, and clinical and self breast exams make a well-rounded early detection tool kit.
For the breasts to establish a "thermal signature" which like our finger print is unique to us, it's necessary to do two Thermograms, within in 3 months, your first year. Assuming your thermal patterns have remained unchanged a baseline would be established and a yearly follow up is recommended.
